What is FCRA? Why is this applicable to fundraisers on Milaap?

FCRA stands for Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010. The scope of this Act is to regulate the acceptance and utilization of foreign contributions by certain individuals or associations or companies and also to prohibit the acceptance and utilization of foreign contributions for activities that are detrimental to the national interest.

Donations received through Milaap are regulated by the FCRA. Milaap can transfer funds only to an FCRA-registered bank account of an NGO. There are other conditions under the Act that pertain to crowdfunding that can be read here.
